Keladry of Mindelan fighting a killing machine for the first time, from Tamora Pierce's series Protector of the Small.
I haven't done anything TP related in a little while, so I thought I'd give Kel some love again. ^^
Ummm I dunno about the killing machine design, I kind of rushed it but I have this mental image of it having a smoother, and much more simple design. I just thought having a lot of spiky things would make it look more menacing in a close-up. Right now it's like DARTH VADER ON CRACK!!!!1!! Hehe.
ALSO, I don't think Kel would react like this every time she sees a killing machine. I think it's just the first time, and I think it would shock anyone, even someone as calm of mind as Kel.

Personally, I always pictured the Killing Machines as more skeletal in appearance, but Keladry's expression is amazing. Hell, just that face alone, with the same title, would be an impressive picture.
